First steps to global recruiting

How to find the ideal candidate with the budget that you have? This might be one question that most HR managers have. Sometimes they have found out in their local communities the best one for their position, but that person might have higher salary expectations that it is impossible to the company to offer a good deal.

And that has been one of the main advantages of using technology to connect with people that can give the same work value for the budget that the company has.

And it happens in the creative industry, for example where probably creative people will cost more to hire in a country such Spain, than in a Latin America country. Or if we talk about the IT industry, where the IT in Lithuania, or India or the USA, might have different budgets, but also they might bring different work perspectives and abilities.

And we can go on and on with the different industries, but certainly is, that in each country, companies that would like to hire internationally can find different set of skills, attitudes, behaviours, abilities, and of course budgets.

Therefore it is important to avoid sticking to the idea of the “perfect” candidate and be open to the different characteristics will bring when hiring globally.

A global recruiting strategy must be aware that there will be cultural differences when hiring candidates from all around the world.

If a company is strict and rigid in its own organizational culture, then it should be avoided bringing people that might have different certain values or behaviors that might not resonate with the corporate culture.

By far, it has been proved that multicultural teams can perform better since it is borught to the table different perspectives on how to solve problems.

HR managers and the department managers must be open and empathic to listen alternative solutions that can eventually result in a better performance of the company.

Time differences

One of the big challenges while working with people from different parts of the world is the time zone.

HR managers must have that into consideration, because if the teams are not willing to set certain time frames to have their meetings or give that little extra efforts in the early mornings or late afternoons, than it would create a harsh environment.

An alternative to this aspects is to search for candidates in countries nearby. This is called Nearshoring. For example, German companies could search for possible candidates by outsourcing in Slovakia, than searching for possible remote candidates from Korea. which will have a minor time difference.

Remote work has increased drastically in the last year, and it has bring a need for a fast adaptation to the new working models.

Thanks to technology the exchange of work between colleagues and departments has never been easier.

Interaction with a remote peer can be easily done.

Certainly, HR Managers have that in advantage if their company has adopted properly technology in their processes.

This brings an advantage as a company and it makes it more attractive to the eyes of potential candidates.
