Why streaming has become relevant?

Streaming has become a popular way to consume video and audio content.

There are many reasons for this.

First, streaming is convenient. You can watch videos or listen to audios without having to wait for them to finish downloading. Plus, there are always new content additions to choose from, so you won’t get bored anytime soon.

Second, streaming is affordable. You don’t have to pay for expensive cable or satellite subscriptions. There are some streaming providers that have their content for free but they usually have some advertising included in the content. Or there are some other services that are offering low subscription fees to access the content.

Finally, streaming is flexible. You can watch videos and listen to audio when you want to, where you want to. The access to the different devices such as smart TVs, smartphones, tables and laptops, makes it really easy to connect online and check out the content that is streaming online.

And as there are more and more content available online, and more new platforms that offer streaming services, it will keep up to be a popular form of consuming content.

How streaming works?

When you watch or listen a streaming video or music, the providers, such as the Spanish Radio, sends a copy of the audio or video to your device.

Streaming can be handled with content that is already produced and hosted on the servers of the providers, or it can also be content that is being produced in live format.

Then, your computer uses a streaming protocol, such as HTTP or RTSP, to receive such file, which then the file is encoded in a format that is able to be listened or watched in real time through your device.

The new streaming method has helped to reduce the need of downloading files, and has helped out to eliminate downloading potentially dangerous files for PCs due to virus or cyberattacks.

Podcast and streaming

A growing number of people are listening to podcasts on their smartphones, tablets, and other devices, which has been another important form of streaming.

There has been a rise on the different categories where people use podcasts as a matter of sharing information but also as a new channel for education.

People are streaming podcasts to learn more about certain topics, such as health, work, finances, culture, spirituality, lifestyle and more.

Thanks to the wide offer of podcasts that are available on different platforms, it is possible to be selecting a desired type of content that resonates to the want and needs of the user.
