Siteground has been known to be a great host.
I decided to use Siteground, since my previous hosting, Godaddy was a really slow one.
Godaddy Gogeek plan was on a price reduction, and why not use it for one website,
As an experience, I presented good customer service every time I had an issue that was mostly a WordPress technical fix, but they supported with that.
Following up, I share my story, and the general information about Siteground.
As a blogger, once you keep walking on this path, one big question that arisses for the WordPress users is, which Hosting is the best one for WordPress?
The thing is, that as you start, you have no clue to decide which WordPress hosting to choose.
There are hundreds of different hosting service providers, that all offer and say to be the best one.
Well, just reading their websites is not the best way to decide.
They all proclaim to be fast for WordPress speed, free ssl certificates, CDN integration, live chat with awesome customer satisfaction, good prices and so on.
I am not a full web developer engineer, but certainly I have learned what has worked and what has not worked among the different WordPress Hosting Services.
In this post I will talk about Siteground Web Hosting Review, my journey to finding another host that fits best my needs and general information about the services that Siteground has.
I wanted to improve the speed of my WordPress Website while being on Godaddy.
I found Siteground by doing online research, and several sites recommend Siteground enough at that time.
I eventually migrated from Godaady to Siteground’s hosting as they had a special offer on ther growbig and gogeek plans and usually after that the pricing increases.
The offer was for 3 years, so it seem to me to be a good deal, since it was less than 50% of the real value.
The team at Siteground supported me with the Siteground migrator plugin which was really simple for a beginner.
Plus, my WordPress site was still small with a few monthly visits.
The support team answered pretty fast, and overall the experience was good enough to recommend Siteground servers.
But after a while, and also not doing a well WordPress optimization, even with the Siteground Optimizer, I was getting the following numbers.
Many cloud hosting plan services were starting to become popular when I was using Siteground.
After reading some Facebook groups comments, I got to learn a bit more about Cloudways.
Cloudways is a managed cloud services that also offer WordPress Hosting.
Cloudways has the latest PHP versions, supporting a faster site.
In Cloudways you can install WordPress with just a simple clicks.
The only issue is that it doesn’t offer an easy to use Cpanel stage.
The advantage of Cloudways for beginners and advanced users is that you can select the cloud service that you want from different providers such as Vultr, Digital Ocean, Google Cloud Platfrom and AWS.
So actually you have the decision to try different cloud services from several companies in the world in just one place.
Also, on the Woocommerce Facebook group from Mexico, many web developers recommended Vultr in High Frequency.
So again, I jumped to another WordPress hosting Service.
As you can see, my Page Scores improved, and loading time was reduced.
For a blogger it seems, just good.
Of course, my next step was to keep optimizing and improve the website speed so that it keep getting faster.
Having Elementor and WPML as plugins didn’t help that much with speed.
Eventually, Elementor did some Updates that affected back my website speed.
But still the DNS loading times are fast.
And I also need to do image optimization.
Another advantage of Cloudways with Vultr High Frequency is the price, since it only costs $13.
Of course Siteground has brought to me a flexible WordPress Hosting, where I have also hosted my e-mail accounts.
Siteground is great if you are using it for more than just your website.
The improvement from Siteground plan to Cloudways was a good reduction in loading times.
The main homepage after an optimization achieves a full loading time of 731 ms, really good comparing to previous hosts such as Kinsta, Siteground and Godaddy.
But digging deeper and questioning, is it really worth paying $13 per month when I can have a bit more resources for the same price in Vultr website?
We had to try out.
Updraft plus free version was used to do the migration.
A backup was created and then uploaded to the new server.
This might not be the best solution but it worked.
Also the server from Vultr High Frequency was scaled to a Mexico City based data center and a VPS of the 80 GB Storage, 2 CPU, 2 GB Memory Ram and 3 TB Ram for $18 per month.
So basically more performance for just $6 more, and in a Plesk panel, which is easier to use than the Cloudways interface.
The total loading time went from the 731 ms to 509 ms.
Considering that the website has plugins such as Elementor and WPML which are known to be “slow WordPress plugins”, now it is proven that is not, and that Vultr High Frequency can be one of the best VPS WordPress Hosting with high speed.
To keep up with the new requirements of the Core Web Vitals of Google, I followed the recommendations of getting Cloudflare APO, which has been key to reach finally good results at the google search console.
I also changed from the VPS from an Apache server to a Litespeed server, which is one of the advanced features you can use for free in Vultr.

Siteground is perfect for small businesses, bloggers, and anyone who needs an easy-to-use, reliable hosting solution.
Siteground is a popular web hosting company that offers a variety of hosting plans to suit different budgets and needs.
The company’s shared hosting plans start at $2.99 per month.
The Startup plan is basically for just one website, it has 10GB of web disk space, and is focused for up to 10,000 monthly visitors.
The GrowBig plan is now at $4.99, prices can change, it has 20GB of web disk space, and is oriented for up to 100,000 monthly visitors.
The GoGeek plan is now at $7.99, it has 40GB of web disk space, and is oriented for up to 400,000 monthly visits.
Usually with Siteground, after the first year is over, the prices goes up and it gets more expensive.
That was one of the reasons this blog was moved to a Siteground alternative that offered more resources for less price.
But if you are a digital marketing agency that manages several clients simple websites, than you should consider the regular price to do your cost calculations, rather than just taking the reduced price.
There are a few things that make Siteground special compared to other hosting services.
They offer a wide range of features and services that can be customized to fit the needs of any website.
Some advantages of Siteground include its user-friendly interface, wide range of features, and affordable price.
Additionally, Siteground provides excellent customer support and has a strong reputation in the web hosting industry.
Siteground offers 99.99% uptime with their WordPress hosting which means that your website will be online almost all of the time.
At Siteground, you can host several number of websites, so in case that you are a digital marketing agency and neet to create small websites for several clients, this could be a better option, but have in mind that the websites performance might not be the optimal.
With SiteGround, you get access to Softaculous, which gives you quick access to popular Content Management Systems (CMS) such as WordPress, Joomla! and Drupal.
You can also use this to install other popular applications such as eCommerce platforms like Magento and PrestaShop.
SiteGround offers free email accounts with your hosting package.
You can add an unlimited number and they have webmail available so you can check your messages online from anywhere in the world.
They also provide IMAP/POP3 support for connecting your email client (e.g. Thunderbird or Microsoft Outlook).

Their fast customer support team usually answers and help with WordPress techincal issues, even though that is not their core.
If the site does go down, they have 24/7 customer service available to help you fix the problem as quickly as possible.
I’ve tested out their customer service and they are very responsive and helpful.
When you host your website with Siteground, they automatically make a backup of your whole website every day so if something happens to it, you can easily restore it from a previous day.
This is important because if you ever get hacked or your website crashes, you can easily restore it without losing any data or having to start from scratch.
SiteGround takes security very seriously with their hosting packages coming with multiple layers of security including: Firewall protection that uses Network Address Translation (NAT), Server intrusion detection system (IDS), Anti-DDoS protection that blocks malicious traffic, AntiBot system that prevents brute force
Siteground helps also to set up a 2FA which gives an extra layer of security to login to the platform.
Shared hosting in Siteground can be slow because the servers are shared with other people.
If a website on your server is getting a lot of traffic, that website will use more resources and can slow down your site.
With Siteground WordPress hosting, you don’t have to worry about this because the caching technology they use reduces the load on the server and speeds up loading times.
But certainly, having a dedicated hosting is better than a shared one.
The problem with dedicated hosting is the prices.
So, one big solution for this was the use of VPS hosting.
Siteground does not offer VPS hosting like Cloudways, or solutions like Digital Ocean or Vultr, where you can get really low prices and grow as you scale.
They have the Cloud Hosting, but the prices are higher than the previous mentioned.
Plus, users of Siteground are also not fully recommending this service.
It might have sound awesome that Siteground is one who started to use Google Cloud Platform infrastructure, but if its shared, then it might not be the best solution.
Shared hosting is a web hosting service where websites are hosted on the same server as other websites.
This is in contrast to dedicated hosting, where a website is hosted on its own server.
Shared hosting is usually much cheaper than dedicated hosting, but it also comes with some downsides, such as slower speeds and less security.
VPS stands for Virtual Private Server.
It is a type of web hosting that allows businesses and individuals to have their own server that is isolated from other users on the same physical server.
This provides them with the ability to have their own operating system, applications, and data.
The main difference between VPS and shared hosting is that VPS hosting gives you a more isolated environment with your own resources, while shared hosting puts your website on a server with other websites.
There are many reasons to start using VPS hosting.
Some of the most common reasons include:
1. Increased control and flexibility: With VPS hosting, you have much more control over your server than with shared hosting. This means that you can customize your server environment to better suit your needs.
2. Improved performance: VPS hosting can offer improved performance over shared hosting, due to the fact that your server resources are not shared with other users.
3. Greater security: With a VPS, your website will be isolated from other users on the same server. This can help to reduce the risk of malicious attacks and data breaches.
Siteground doesn’t have a direct VPS service, as Siteground comes with a general shared hosting service based on GCP.
If you want more freedom in terms of selecting the resources that you might need for your server and the applications that you want to install, then Vultr can be a better VPS hosting.
There are many WordPress web hosting providers to choose from, each with their own unique features and price points.
When choosing a WordPress host, it’s important to consider your specific needs and budget.
Some hosts offer managed WordPress hosting, which includes features like automatic updates and security enhancements.
Other hosts offer more basic plans, which are ideal for smaller sites or those just starting out with WordPress.
Once you’ve determined your needs, you can compare hosts side-by-side to find the one that best meets your requirements.
Yes, Siteground’s customer support chat offers an excellent customer service, but performance and price is important, and it is falling behind the new hosting trends.
VPS hosting is now becoming an affordable solution with ultimate performance.
Cloudways can be a great solution for apps, as it offers more than just hosting, but going directly to cloud hosting like Vultr can certainly reduce the hosting budget.
There are many reasons why Vultr is a great VPS hosting provider.
One reason is that Vultr offers high performance SSD VPS servers.
This means that your website will load quickly and smoothly for visitors, even during peak traffic times.
Additionally, Vultr provides great customer support and has a wide range of plans to choose from, so you can find the perfect solution for your needs.
You can choose among optimized cloud compute, high frequency, bare metal and kubernetes.
You can add up more advanced features as you scale up your website or app in Vultr, and you can create backups that will give that extra security to your information.
SiteGround does offer VPS hosting as Cloud Hosting, which is a type of web hosting that uses virtual private servers to provide more resources and flexibility than shared hosting.
Siteground has to offer a Cloud hosting plan that starts at $100 per month.
SiteGround does not have a slow TTFB.
However, like all web hosting providers, there are factors that can affect the speed of your website, such as the size and complexity of your website, the number of visitors you have, and the speed of your internet connection.
SiteGround does use cPanel. SiteGround’s cPanel is one of the most user-friendly and intuitive control panels I’ve used. It’s easy to navigate and has a good number of features available, without being overwhelming.
Siteground is the best option or could be one of the best if you are considering to have multiple number of websites at one place. But If you are a blogger, a WordPress developer or an online store business owner, than Siteground might not be the best option for you, since there are Siteground alternatives that can offer better performance for lower price.
Yes, WordPress is free on SiteGround. You can install WordPress on your SiteGround account for free and use it to create and manage your website. The advantage of the GrowBig and GoGeek plans is that you can host an unlimited number of websites, making it ideal for digital marketing agencies that produce websites for clients.
