Imagina las ondas de una cuerda o la <strong data-start=\"1340\" data-end=\"1357\">cuerda de una guitarra<\/strong> vibrando: la onda se mueve horizontalmente, mientras que las part\u00edculas vibran hacia arriba y hacia abajo en <strong data-start=\"1442\" data-end=\"1475\">\u00e1ngulo recto con la direcci\u00f3n<\/strong> del movimiento. Este tipo de <strong data-start=\"1500\" data-end=\"1536\">onda se llama onda transversal<\/strong> porque el movimiento es <strong data-start=\"1559\" data-end=\"1590\">transversal a la direcci\u00f3n<\/strong> del desplazamiento.  <\/p><p data-start=\"1603\" data-end=\"1980\">En cambio, una <strong data-start=\"1618\" data-end=\"1639\">onda longitudinal<\/strong> implica <strong data-start=\"1649\" data-end=\"1698\">part\u00edculas que se mueven paralelamente a la direcci\u00f3n<\/strong> <strong data-start=\"1703\" data-end=\"1719\">en que viaja<\/strong> la <strong data-start=\"1703\" data-end=\"1719\">onda<\/strong>. Estas ondas est\u00e1n formadas por <strong data-start=\"1744\" data-end=\"1777\">compresiones y rarefacciones<\/strong>, es decir, zonas en las que las part\u00edculas se agrupan o se separan.
